My Dr. Greger Daily Dozen Inspired Flax and Chia Seed Oatmeal recipe is my go-to breakfast. This meal is arguably one of the best ways you can start your day. Loaded with energy this meal is perfect for those high intensity workouts, or just a busy day!
One of the first people I started to follow when I became vegan was Dr. Greger. Greger is arguably the most influential doctors in the vegan community. With best selling books like “How Not To Die” he has quite literally written the standard for what we as a species should be eating.
I do my absolute best to follow Dr. Greger’s orders and eat the 12 food groups he recommends in his book. One of the easiest ways I have found to do this is by packing my breakfast with as many as his daily dozen items as I can. Although sometimes this can be difficult. I usually have a hard time fitting enough good spices such as cinnamon, and super seeds like chia and flax into my diet. This quick breakfast recipe covers all of those.
This recipe knocks spices, seeds, and whole grains off your list first thing in the morning. The best part is that this recipe is stupidly easy to make. 10 minutes is all you’ll need to create a healthy breakfast to fuel your day.
In order to make this meal, all you need to do is place all the ingredients into a small saucepan. Place the pot on medium-low heat, and allow to simmer for 10 minutes. Then sprinkle some additional chia and flax seeds on top for presentation.
The only thing that I think some people may want to change about this recipe is the amount of sweetener used. I chose to sweeten this meal with maple syrup, this can be swapped out for what ever you’d like! I only use 1 tbsp of maple syrup, which can be switched out for more or less depending on your preferences.
