Vegan Dog Birthday Cake Recipe

To a lot of people, dogs are part of the family. Which means they deserve to have their birthday celebrated like part of the family. Why not make them a vegan dog birthday cake!?

If you’re like me you’re probably super picky on what dog food you give your pup. This is why I made this recipe with simple ingredients (that even I would eat).

Today I’m giving you my vegan dog birthday cake recipe. This recipe is vegan, and free from refined sugar and oils. Made with just a few simple ingredients this cake is completely dog-friendly and easily digestible. Ontop of all that, you can eat it too!

6 ingredient Peanut butter Banana Dog-Friendly Birthday Cake

This recipe is based off my Vegan Banana Muffins recipe. I modified it to be super easy to make. It is as simple as throwing all of the ingredients into a blender and baking for 45 minutes. It couldn’t be easier!

Why I chose Bananas and Peanut Butter

My dog Kyra (an American bulldog mix) has always had a sensitive stomach. She is also very picky, although one thing she can’t resist is peanut butter. Thats why I decided to make this cake with peanut butter and bananas. The bananas help to aid with the digestion of the cake while the peanut butter gives the cake an irresistible scent and taste. I don’t know many dogs that would turn their wet nose to this cake!

Is there anything in the cake that can hurt my dog?

The only ingredient in this cake that can be harmful to dogs is the baking powder. Baking powder is hard on dogs tummy when injected on its own. In contrast once it has been mixed with other ingredients it becomes harmless! You can remove the baking powder from the recipe if it concerns you. Just know this will result in a very thick pound-cake like texture.

How Many Dogs Will This Feed?

This is a single serving recipe. Kyra could easily eat 20 of these, I wanted to make it a single serving so that it could be made with ease in a small blender. Personally I used a Bullet Blender. I find it much easier to use, and clean vs my larger Ninja Blender.

What Kind of Icing Should I Use?

I chose to keep the cake simple with a peanut butter icing. By peanut butter icing I really mean plain old peanut butter.

I do need to come clean on one thing. When I shot the photos for this recipe I was being lazy. I should have topped the cake with some kind of dog treats, but unfortunately, I didn’t have any vegan dog treats in the house! Next time I will use something like Old Mother Hubbard’s Vegan dog treats as a cute little topping.
